Controvento: the little bird who wanted to reach the top of the mountain

Controvento is a 3D animated short written and directed by us. We often make animation just for ourselves, because we love it.

The story

A boy meditates under a tree, among cherry blossoms. A little bird who cannot fly falls on his head. They start talking, and the bird tells him its dream: to reach the top of the mountain on foot, like a hiker.

Watch the video

The boy decides to help. He sews the bird a little coat against the cold and walks it up the trail, all the way to the snow. At one point he stops and tells it the last stretch has to be done alone, because the dream is the bird's.

The ending

The bird reaches the top and enjoys the view. Then it understands something: its dream was to be happy together with the boy. In that moment it discovers it can fly. It dives down, goes back to him, and they live happily together.

Why we make animation for ourselves

Controvento is an in-house project, with no client. We made it to train our directing and 3D character animation, which we then use in brand work. And because we like telling stories like this. Carrying animation forward is one of the studio's goals for the coming years.

We also make animation for brands, such as mascots. You can see how we work on the 3D video and animation page.
