The Moka: NNZN Studios' first video, when nobody knew how it was done yet
The Moka, called Italian Morning Routine on YouTube, is NNZN Studios' first video. Telling its story is also a way of telling how the studio was born.
Before the studio
Luca comes from marketing. He worked in an agency on digital: content, campaigns, social media. He always had a passion for images, video and technology, and his first contact with generative artificial intelligence struck him as a kind of magic. He made his first images on Hugging Face, with early versions of Flux and then with ComfyUI, to illustrate articles instead of the usual stock photos.

Then came study, events, conferences, trying every tool available. In March 2024 he met Anas Ichidi, who came from editing, post-production and visual effects. Putting the two together, Luca moved from images to clips, and the clips became videos.
The first video
The Moka is the first. It tells the story of the moka pot as an object passed from one generation to the next. There is a woman putting it on the stove, the coffee rising, the plantations and the water where it all begins, an older woman leafing through a photo album with a cup beside her, and two children trying to put it together on their own at a wooden table. It is our own project, unpaid.
When there was no method
At that time nobody knew how to make a video with AI. There were no established workflows and no reliable tools. We looked for ideas on X, on YouTube, on LinkedIn, anywhere, while experimenting ourselves on the front line.
We started working locally, on our own computers. Then we moved to the cloud, to online platforms that bring several tools together, and we also tried working directly with the models' APIs. Today we mostly use platforms such as Higgsfield, Midjourney, ElevenLabs and Magnific, and APIs only for specific jobs.
The transitions
The idea we had in mind was complicated for that moment, especially the transitions from one scene to the next. It was hard work, and reaching the end was a real thrill.
Today it could be done a hundred times better. But for that period and with those resources we are very happy with it, and it is a memory we carry with us. The first paid job came shortly after, with Nouvelle.
